>>53528000He got the 2022 Famitsu Award for Best Character and he was 6th in the yumejoshi poll. He's pretty popular for sure, but as the other anon said, it seems like he won't appear in the anime and there isn't a lot of merchandise or other fanservice stuff, so who knows if it holds up.
We can only hope that Game Freak will do more with him after seeing how much people like him. And if the rumours/leaks regarding a whole second DLC are true, it could focus on him or something.
Regardless, I'll keep loving him with all of my heart.
