Nevermind, shitwriting-sama just got tired for a moment and drank his coffee for the second half of this.
>Battle Team is the most rigorous ostensibly merit-based program in an already elite school>Coached by a Champion who's no doubt had plenty of setbacks, hardships, and being forced to evaluate what works and what doesn't then make objective adaptations based on that as stated by Blue>Sees objective evidence in Red's philosophy through his battle with Blue with easily verifiable results>Entertains the line of questioning before immediately 180ing when he remembers the stadiumI sincerely, unironically think that the character they're trying to write here is too big for this writer's skillset. I completely get what they're trying to do with Lance being an unimpressed hardass, but the nature of his implied backstory and the implied characterization traits necessary for what the game's going for there are entirely at odds with him flipping to petty grudges, especially since he ostensibly prioritizes the success of the battle team over any silly squabbles with insignificant literally whos from his perspective. The game pointing out these inconsistencies does not justify how absolutely contrived this is and if this is apparently a recurring character trait, it should've actively discredited him in Janine (and everyone else's) eyes long before the story begins properly.
In the miniscule chance that the developer of this game is lurking, I beg of you rework these Lance scenes. They're awful and make no sense when you think about them for more than a second. Him spitroasting Blue afterwords doesn't mask it either.
