There is no skill required to play any PMD because thats basically what it all falls down to, that and not loading your character with moves that will be completely useless against certain types like a Psychic character with all psychic moves finding itself facing a Zoroark or Absol. Thats just common sense though.
Also you saying you don't need to use those characters contradicts
