Pleasantly surprised. All the new tools make ev training quick and easy, dex nav makes catching a new team fun, changing natures/maxing out ivs gives money an actual purpose in the late game, the dynamax raid battles are a fun distraction, and the extra rival battles/team rocket encounters mix up the game enough to keep it from feeling repetitive.
Ended up playing on my 3ds with no save-states or speed up function. The grinding is very cozy.
