>>44670517Megas shouldn't come back because it was, as a gimmick, just simply unhealthy. A gimmick shouldn't be a replacement to what shitmons need, and that's simply an update to them as a whole. Stats, moves, abilities, all of it if necessary. The concept was great though, but of course the execution was awful. However, it was by far the best of the worst when it comes to the gimmicks we've been getting, Dynamax almost especially. Dynamax is so overloaded in comparison, like everything gets to be Speed Boost Blaziken, and nothing can outplay little Timmy out of getting his 3 mandatory Dynamax turns. Outright immunity to things like flinching, Destiny Bond, Low Kick, and goes through Protect on top of it. I genuinely prefer Z-Moves since at least there was some strategic creativity with it, and had the restriction of being a held item and one time use on top of it, and mind you I'd rather lick my own asshole than have Z-Moves back.
But at the end of the day, this is about Megas, and my argument is to simply just offer a portion of the buffs to the Pokemon that needed their Mega form (i.e. Fighting type, Scrappy as HA, and a +30 to its overall bst to Lopunny) while also offering the mega form itself as a cosmetic, similar to ball seals. This way slightly older little Timmy doesn't miss out on his dear Mega Salamence without completely ruining the already shit competitive experience because so long as it has something, it's an excuse not to give it buffs if it doesn't objectively need it. That said, gimmicks of all kinds were a mistake, period.
