I'm playing UM right now and all the cutscenes feel like a real slog, it's fine I gues, I'm constantly over leveled even with changing my team while I play, and trainers rarely have more than 1 pokemon per team - otherwise, routes are quite large with diverse encounters and with quite a few trainers.
