Alright anons, what are (You) working on right now?
I've been busy IRL, but when I've had time I've been chipping away at an outline. The basic premise is:
>A Sneasel looking to pay off a large debt and a Xatu recklessly chasing adventure both venture into the chaotic, unstable space where two Mystery Dungeons overlap after hearing rumors of unparalleled treasures held within—but they soon find themselves in over their heads, and it ends up being a fight just to get out of there alive.
It's based off of the writing prompt in pic related, though I ended up changing some details. The old man is more cranky and a bit standoffish, not willing to share details other than to paint a picture of how terrifying and dangerous the place is until he gets called out for contradicting something a villager said earlier and admits that there's rare items inside too. The motivation for the MCs is a bit different since I've fleshed them out a bit and they aren't just a stand-in for the prompt, so they're no longer going in to rescue the kid and it'll only be something that happens incidentally if it does. The bit about the federation is reworked so it doesn't make it seem like I'm trying to portray them as a government with some sort of universally-recognized authority. Instead of the villagers being desperate to get in, they abandoned any desire to go in there before the federation even showed up after a couple of dungeon runs gone wrong, even outside of the overlap zone specifically. There's a secret rank explorer out there researching the dungeon since it's a place of interest, but she only tries to keep stray adventurers from going in out of percieved personal moral obligation to for their safety, there's no invokation of any sort of authority.
Originally, I just wanted to write something that really played up the surreality of Mystery Dungeons, but now I also want to focus a bit more on the more horror-esque elements in the prompt, and the unnerving, dangerous atmosphere.
