The different modes should probably be Pokefan, Ace Trainer, Veteran. A little more appealing and not to derogatory.
Skipping cutscenes: please. Why can't we go back to RGB literally and make cutscenes short sweet and to the point? Why can't we choose to search for clues to make sense of something and explore the world? Why are you spoonfeeding us in a RPG where it's literally the game to go and roleplay and do some detective work. Don't take this away from me GF, shame on you.
Battle CD's/Teachy TV
Great idea, it introduces competitive into single player. What pokemon has always lacked was trainers in the main game using an actual competitive team. I remember as a runt with my sapphire version I just taught the pokemon all moves of it's type because it was so overpowered it didn't matter, then getting to the battle tower and getting smashed because what is IV/EV, these strats? Also recently replayed C/XD and the puzzles with the battle CD's were fun and informative.
Customization
I understand your point, I like what they did in XY that your default is whatever anime shill it is this season, but you had the opportunity to change it if you liked. SM's lack of facial expressions were uncanny though.
Also here's a fun little thing I saved, It's from a fan game but it shows that pokemon can be complicatedly simplified and fun.
