There's character growth and character degeneration, Alanah is the clearest case of the ladder, she does not grow throughout the game, she only gets worse, more immature, more insufferable and she goes from the player's sweetheart to a giant bitch who when given any ounce of power starts immediately abusing it, so much so that she's even willing to go as far as harm her own family for her own goals, it's like a metaphor for a relationship I suppose.
