You shills never stop, do you? The whole point of a "final dungeon" in a video game is to test everything you've learned up until that point. Whereas the league itself is meant to test your battling skill, victory road is means to test your exploration and endurance.
You're expected to go in fully equipped and stocked with every item and pokemon you expect you'll need just to get through the damn place. It's filled with tough trainers, has paths that go every which way, a bunch of great items to reward exploring, and backtracking is made to be just as risky as progressing forward. This is what victory road is supposed to be from a gameplay perspective.
Taking that out and not replacing it with ANYTHING isn't something that should be defended. At the very least they could've made Route 10 more than just another straight line but apparently that would be too much work as well.
