>>56989441The campaign story was supposed to revolve around the party being transformed into Pokemon and sent to this continent, very much similar to the intro to Explorers, but without the overarching world-ending threat plot.
I've spent a lot of time, past and present, thinking about what kind of purpose a man-made clay servant Pokemon like Golett/Golurk would have in a world of Pokemon societies. I never solidified anything other than that they would tend to be assistants and busyworkers for different communities, but they weren't common to come by. I'm sort of writing some of that in my pending intro for Clover Guild.
One of the players wanted to be a Golett, which worked well for me to include a narrative device in the form of an object buried in the sand on the beach, something like picrel that would indirectly guide the party towards wherever the plot needed to go, which would have been related to the Regis. On their way back to the main hub town, I would've had the Golett player roll a d2 for Klutz to either trip on the mysterious object or notice it in the sand.
The Golett player was meant to be an already-existing Pokemon in the world that was a worker at Alakazam's Adventuring Academy (AAA), which served as both a library of knowledge for the public, and a guild for exploration teams. Alakazam was a historian chronicling tales across the world related to exploration teams, the appearance of mystery dungeons, and myths and legends in the Pokemon world.
There was a Cofagrigus bank NPC who was a part of a legendary three-man exploration team known as Team Spirit alongside a Golurk and an Aegislash. Their main goal was rescuing Pokemon from dangerous dungeons in order to dispel the rumor that Ghost-type Pokemon were inherently evil, which they achieved on top of amassing great riches before disbanding.
In the middle of the campaign, the party would have unlocked expeditions to newly formed mystery dungeons that correlated to one of the 3 (at the time) Regis.
