The most extreme cases of this are when it's a mod of an existing game that have little or no compelling other reason(s) to play beyond the changed boss fights, especially if they actively go out of their way to force you to play a very specific way as possible in the process via removal of as many options as possible while still being winnable. There's unfortunately more than 1 Rejuv Mod that fits this criteria now.
