>>49973221The logic there is that breeding Electric and Electric/Psychic cancelled out the Electric. Since the first stage doesn't have any type, it became normal while the second stage retained its mono psychic form.
I used the same reasoning for the Slowpoke line, where Psychic/Water and Psychic/Poison bred out the Psychic and kept the Water, which evolves into Water/Poison.
The meowths are monotype, so I don't mind having the hybrids be literally just dual typed versions of their parents.
The Ice Type and Psychic type tier-two hybrids were chosen just because Ice and Psychic feel like rare and powerful types. (Even though Ice Type is bad in-game)
