It's not supposed to be sharp, straight lined or monster like, it's a fucking plant/flower. Compare it to Vileplume, Tangela, Sunflora or even better Bellossom. You have selective vision, you see one design and think everything follows the same rules but slowly degrades over time when in fact the very pokemon you used as an example has traits shared with both Gen 1 and Gen 2 GRASS type pokemon
Lurantis is not a bug or a bug type, stop comparing it to other bugs of earlier generations
