>>32424949I've never really considered removing the gridlock before, but you could do a lot with that and have some very nice boss fights. Let's hope Chunsoft is listening in.
To apply my idea of charge-up attacks and hazards, here's a Celesteela fight:
In addition to its regular moves, Celesteela can do a special attack with its boosters.
On the first turn it charges up, giving you time to get out of the way, and on the second it releases blasts from its boosters in the form of a 3-tile-wide line attack. The recoil from this attack sends Celesteela back a tile in the opposite direction.
The blasts are very powerful, so tanking them head-on is not the optimal strategy, and because they're so wide you won't often be able to sneak a safe attack in.
Instead, the idea is to have you and your teammates move smartly around the path of the beams and drive Celesteela backwards while avoiding its attacks as much as you can. If you drive it back far enough in a certain direction it might blast itself into some wall tiles. The walls are destroyed and Celestela becomes confused, giving you an opportunity to attack while it lashes out wildly, and after a while of this it recovers and resumes its booster assault.
