>>39005609I never had a chance or money to but a DS and had to emulate all the games past BGA gens. I have money now and I bought a switch for other games over a year ago.
This all means when I play a game I never even think or care about what I can transfer over, and even if offered I wouldn't see the point except for trying to get specific abilities and stats, but I'm not into that, I'm not into the meta, I just start a new run, try new pokemon, and enjoy the base game until I get bored of that save.
So I am completely indifferent to all of this drama. I'll buy the game and get to play and trade with people for the first time since Sapphire, and that's neat. None of this drama matters to me at all and seems incredibly petty and childish. Everyone can be upset with it but it feels no different to me than starting any other new pokemon game.
I'll pick a starter, favor new pokemon over old ones for the novelty, figure out my favorites of this gen, and then make a better party on my next play-through designed based on what I encounter and when rather than the absolute ideal I could trade over. Because that's how I always play.
