One close friend is privy to my fanfic writing but only because she's also writing fanfic. A positive reaction, as expected for sharing a niche hobby, we still bounce ideas back and forth despite writing for several different fandoms. Other than that I don't disclose my fanfic writing tendencies offline in an attempt to blend in as a normie, though the continuous suppression of power level becomes a burden if I'm away from the Internet for too long. I might mention to friends in passing I'm working on a sci-fi story. While that's vague enough to not raise any brows, it's also sincerely true since I do have legitimate plans to write a novel after increasing my proficiency as an author via fanfic. I've proven to myself I can write extensive stories, now it's a matter of making sure they're consistently good stories. Experience will get me there. Hopefully.
