She picks Pokemon for their out-of-battle utilities. Abra is for teleporting around in and out of places and is very low maintenance. Porygon Z has potential for the utterly absurd but his "programming" is utterly unstable and Arai doesn't care to have an unstable Pokemon so she kept her Porygon as a Porygon2. She has not figured out how to stabilize the Dubious Disc code to make a more stable Porygon-Z. In her own words;
