Back to your post, the RS remakes will take their cue from HeartGold and SoulSilver which were Crystal remakes in principal, such as the inclusion of Eusine, Suicune event and other Crystal features.
For the record, Game Freak does not want the burden of completely remaking the story. It will just be a remake.
