I used to dislike how he did things like how he wouldn't fully evolve some pokemon, how he would ignore the type chart, etc. But I realized it's all endearing in its own way, Ash respects his pokemon so much that he would let them stay in whatever form they preferred, and he trusts in his bros and himself so much that he doesn't care about the type chart or any game mechanic. Ash is based.
