>>12211206Smeargle dabs his tail in a cup of paint, not even looking at you as he delivers the news, "Mary. Old grave digger. I took her place after she went into permanent retirement. I'm on break now."
Smeargle goes back to painting, but you still have questions, "Wait, wait! When did she quit?!"
"A few weeks before kicking it. She got sick."K-Kicking it..?"
Smeargle sighs, grabbing your shoulders, he says it bluntly this time, "She's dead, child. She is deceased. Best employee we ever had, then that illness came, and she just couldn't fight it..She died last month."
"What...N-No...no....Y-You're lying..."
"I don't lie to children."
You fall to the ground, speechless for a third time. It's really over. She's dead. She's BEEN dead this whole time, and if you hadn't have came all this way, you might have been dead too. You came all this way expecting some sort of happy ending, yet instead....she's gone."
The mourning tears come as you fall to the ground, while Smeargle continues to paint with a hint of melancholy.
>Mystery #1 - Mom's Postcards - SOLVED!>The reason mom didn't send a postcard this month was because she died the last after getting horrendously sick. A truth you aren't sure you'll ever be able to accept.>Mystery #2 - The River - SOLVED!>The river mentioned in mom's postcards refer to a river near her final resting place. Since she mentioned it a lot more than her other occupations, it can be deduced that she worked the most hours of her day here.
