>The bad
While the presentation is great, the gameplay feels like an afterthought at points. I don't mind some shit, like occasional collision errors, but man, some things are really annoying. Learnsets for multiple pokemon are fucked, be it TMs or level up moves. For example, my starter couldn't relearn any moves, minus scratch and howl, and couldn't learn Gig Drain via the TM, so once I got rid of it for it's signature move, I couldn't put Giga Drain on it anymore.
Radical Reddit difficulty is really dumb. I wasn't expecting Anil's actually pretty decent quality of hard mode, but man, it's bad. Just the changed teams would have been more than enough, but making Gym Leaders, the league, and a small handful of bosses outlevel you dramatically doesn't make the game hard, it makes it annoying, outside of the darknigger, who was much worse because of the sheer level difference for that point on the game.
Not to mention that even stopping the player from buying healing items is really dumb, especially when the Pokevial equivalent just doesn't work until you get to the pokemon league where you're given a second one while your items are gone.
Overall, while the game looks great, it's lack of polish gameplay wise holds it back a lot imo. I'll give the game a high 6 or low 7/10. Despite the lack of polish, it's still a good game, just not 'definitive edition' good. If the devs take the time to fix a lot of the gameplay, it'll be a great game.
