The thing is, even if you do want to win with your team of bros, you still need to actually understand the meta.
It's not like it's impossible to win with shitmons. There's some poketubers who make a career out of bringing shitmons to high ladder, like PokeaimMD, Emvee, Blunder, etc.
But they know how to make them work. They have experience playing the games, understand the roles, and can think "Yeah, I can make this work. It just needs some help." Look at any of their shitmon ladder videos, and they basically always have one of pic related on their team because they're such good gluemons.
With a solid core and a proper gimmick to build your favorite mon around, you can almost always make even a shit-tier mon put in work.
Maybe it's different in VGC. I don't know because I only watch the major tournaments and don't play on the ladder, but a tournament setting where you need to get consistent wins is a lot different than a ladder setting where you just need to win more than you lose.
TL;DR: Karenfags are just coping because they're too shit to learn the meta and put their favorites to good use.
