ITT: We discuss the pacing of various Pokémon games and which ones were our favorites.
The reason I'm starting this thread is because I just read some guy complaints about how Pokémon X and Y were too fast for him. He said the game started way too fast and he was at the 4th gym after 4 hours while playing the game at a slow pace. I just couldn't believe the guy, especcialy because the opposite is true for me.
See, I found the start of the game to be going at a nice slow pace. It took me about as much time clearing the first three badges as it took me completing the rest of the main story. I found there was plenty to see and explore while challenging the first three gym leaders, but number 4, 5 and 6 were like an hour apart.
To me the second half of the main story felt rushed while the beginning was nice and slow. Is there anyone who felt the same experience? To me Red and Blue were the fastest start. When you choose the right starter the first three gyms can be finished in maybe 3-4 hours. Personally I thought Ruby and Sapphire had the best pacing. There were things to do inbetween every gym battle instead of just going to the next town and immediately challenging the next gym leader. I found the pacing in Black and White good as well. Every gym leader, aside from Brycen and the triplets (and maybe Lenora, can't remember), had his own side thing to complete.
Although I like slow pacing, Gold and Silver were the absolute worst for me. The wild Pokémon were of such a low level you had to grind inbetween every town for a while to get your Pokémon in to shape...
So, please share your experiences with the Pokémon games. Which had the best pacing in your opinion, which had the worst? Please elaborate.
