IIRC the reasoning basically boiled down to "We thought the biggest franchise in the world would get us more than a decently successful movie" which is pretty retarded when you consider how successful managing to be both a decently successful movie for critical and commercial is within the track record of video game movies. Up until Detective Pikachu and Sonic there were ONLY bad but beloved cult classics and shlock like Resident Evil that somehow made millions.

For example your mom gives you the whole speech about the pokegear 1:1 from release GSC and I'm wondering if that's just using bits of the retail game to fill in the gap or if the japanese dialog went unedited between the beta and release.
Similarly I'm wondering about beta Silver and if this was an actual conceived personality for him, or if the 5 tower challenge was actually going to be in the game at some point or if this is all fabricated by the romhacks creator.

Romhack is great and I won't really care if it's a lot of filling in gaps to make the map and pokedex into an actual game, I'm just curious about the creative process.

Also Farfetch'd is fucking BROKEN in this game he absolutely shits on Pidgey and Spearow and Hoothoot

Or for a simpler solution:
Slow Start now retains its turn counter when its user is switched off, and increases Reggie's attacks/speed by 10% every turn (so it would still go back to 100% after 5 turns).
It also continues increasing Reggie's stats afterwards.
