why do I get the feeling that a lot of the deeper stuff BW had going for it was either underdeveloped or left on the cutting room floor? (e.g. Ghetsis' story, Plasma Sages, N's relation to Ghetsis, Shadow Triad, Unova royal lineage, Abyssal Ruins)

Feels like they had a lot going for them but only met it half-way.
