I remember when I played Sapphire and my friends got Torchic and Mudkip and were all cool and I had to pick Treecko because it's what was left for me (we weren't going to repeat starters in our group). It was the first Pokémon game I had ever played because my family couldn't afford to buy me a gameboy before that and I was so awestruck by the game.
My friends were here at my place when I evolved my Treecko. We didn't know the new Pokémon then and when Treecko became a fucking velociraptor with leaf blades and apparently it could glide their jaws dropped. Suddenly he had a stupid looking frog-fish and his brother a retarded chicken and I had a fucking velociraptor. Then when the anime came out with its new season Treecko was cool as fuck and it was Ash's starter. I felt so complete, so loved.
Good times. It's a shame Sceptile has such a stupid face. It should have been more like Feraligatr with teeth and all that. Blaziken and Swampert are way better in game though, so I got all the looks but ended up getting the short end of the stick anyway.
