can someone tell me how to make "outdoor" lighting look less sound stage-y on cycles. The tutorials I've seen tend to work from blank or with specified environmental textures, I'm not sure what specifically to do with the patched on sky textures like this one. I'm mostly using emission planes over the whole city and then some spot lights to make the arena background less drabby and one in front of the subjects. I tried using sun lamp, how the fuck do you use it, it barely lights anything.
>>43508188yeah pretty much, although a good way to start is just load the files with "low" on it, which is a low res version with mostly cardboard cutouts just to get a sense of geography, then you can add up individual .lmd objects to improve/add to the terrain. Like here I'm using the low downtown terrain, but the fountain is its own object. Sometimes you'll just have to go to specific scenes on the game as a reference because there's just so many components
