I think the music in Gen1 is the best, although I do love how Gen3 looks and feels like the Super Nintendo. What's keeping me from going back to Gen1 now is the QoL improvements, like seeing what the TMs do in-game, seeing my moves' accuracy/power in-game, and so on. Also adding color makes it look great.

So current order is: Red (Gen1/GB) done, LeafGreen (Gen3/GBA) in progress, Emerald (Gen3/GBA) next, Platinum (G4/DS), HeartGold (G4/DS), Black (G5/DS), X (G6/3DS), Sun (G7,3DS). I'll look into 3DS emulators from the romhack thread. I may or may not heal from my surgery by the time I get to the end of this list. We'll see
