I'm not going to stop liking something just because other people perceive it in a negative light, nor does liking an "edgy" Pokemon stop me from liking cute ones. At the end of the day, Edgy is just a word you could replace with any other word with negative connotations, each of them ultimately just meaning "I don't like what you like and feel the need to inform you of this".
