Cons:
>forced Kalos references (m-muh advertising)
>turning Giovanni into a dynamic character was bizarre (Gen 1's story arch is about Red-Blue conflict)
>unoriginal music (e.g. Blue's music lifted straight from BW2)
>awkward battle mechanics (to be fair, the idea of "hit points" is always going to be implemented awkwardly in an anime)
>entirely too short (the company's fault, but the brevity of the story definitely softened the impact of it, e.g. Cubone's mother, Team Rocket in general, etc)
>nonchalance over catching the other 149 Pokemon (where'd he get the other starters, how'd he catch the birds, how long did it take to evolve a Dratini/buy a Porygon, etc)
>Elite Four completely blown over (probably the most disappointing consequence of the story's brevity)
>Red's bond with Charizard always overshadowed his relationships with his other Pokemon (an accurate portrayal of that kid whose starter is always 20 levels higher than the rest of his team)
Pros
>nostalgia
>Mewtwo story was implemented well (granted there was only void to be filled there)
>handled Blue's character development pretty well
>solid voice acting
>didn't force "feel good" motif that hard
>overall a good idea, way better than the regular anime
I'd give it a 4/10, the length is the biggest killer. And the fact that they probably won't do this again with any other games.
