I was never too interested in Pokemon outside of the anime, but I just enjoyed the films and moved on quickly afterwards. They didn't sell Nintendo games where I lived, and since I'm balancing college I can't afford one yet either until I get my own job, so I'm playing via emulators.
So far I've only tried out FireRed and Platinum, and they've both been pretty fun. I hope someday I can get a 3DS and enjoy XY too like all the cool kids.
