The trainer gets access weapons and armor and acts as a seventh party member via the “step in” menu option. If the player is knocked out, they lose the battle.
The type of weapon determines the base power and physical or special nature of the attack (swords/guns)
Armor determines base stats with different types of armor leaning toward defensive, fast, and offensive (think thick, tanky armor vs. minimalist armor with jet-boosted roller blades.)
Armor and weapons individually have types, with your weapon choosing your trainer’s primary type and your armor choosing the secondary, allowing you to customize whatever type combo you want. (Normal is not a type available to the trainer at all.)
You can control your trainer’s EV’s via curry and nature is determined by your trainer’s armor. Your IVs are chosen randomly upon beginning the game and you cannot influence them in any way, please understand
