Another one of those "it just is."
I came up with a fucking horrendous idea that I may actually write, but as a completely non-canon thing once my story's more or less run its course.
Essentially, once his upcoming partner in crime evolves, they try to break the curse, only to fuck it up because they're brand new to curses. This results in the whole... "interesting times" thing coming to a peak, and the group has to fight a very much lore-inaccurate Necrozma summoned by a cult.
I'm inspired by a theory I read once that the "light" Necrozma took wasn't literal, but was instead some other metaphysical element that made the Pokemon world bright and cheery. It's a damn shame that there's no Pokemon that do what I ACTUALLY want out of this fight, because the imagery of Valentine and co fighting in pitch darkness, with only the light emanating off of themselves is fucking intense and cool to me.

>getting the name wrongOkay, so the current running idea is that he gets his brain scrambled like some eggs in the fight with the Claydol, and is dealing with the pain of a dislocated arm(it's been put back into place by the time of the phone call.)
I dunno what format I'm going to write this oneshot in, but yeah he's going to have many good excuses, and all of them point to him needing to take a break when he's too stubborn to. (A sense of duty, there's only 2 sheriffs not on leave without him, and now there's no police officers on duty in town.)
>combination of factors probablyWell, regardless, I'm kind of liking the sensation of being able to do a little something, even if the quality isn't exactly perfect.
