My breaking point for me was getting fed up with all of the stupid arguments that I had nothing to do with and no interest in whatsoever, so I gave it up by deleting the app from my phone and logging out of my accounts. One trick I used was to put a different app on my home screen where the Twitter button used to be to condition myself out of mindlessly checking for it and I guess just going cold turkey from there. Now, the problem is that if I want to look for fanart at all, I'm basically given no choice but to use the site like others have said. I just use Nitter to browse and look at accounts without restrictions. It isn't perfect but it works. I also look around on Bluesky every so often which isn't much better but it's also not quite as terrible I guess. I do not even bother with Western artists so I don't really go looking for anything on Tumblr and stick to Japanese tags as much as possible.
