>>53563744>>53563742Its because humans are very averse to loss. It feels way worse to lose out on something than it feels good to gain something, that's why OP is willing to play the Samurott raid for the mark, even if he doesn't really care for the mark or samurott and doesn't even feel like playing, because the feeling of knowing you missed out on a super limited, 1 time event, feels way worse than any Samurott mark could ever feel good.
This is an aspect about human psychology and is deep rooted in our monkey brains. Capitalism takes advantage of this and the end result is battle pass+preorder bonus+DLC content+missable events.
This practice has been going on for a long time with things like limited runs of some kind of collector's item, but stuff like this at least has the excuse of being physical media that needs to be produced, there's no actual excuse for something like a limited Pokemon raid event other than Gamefreak abusing human psychology to make up for them being lazy and putting another half of the game behind DLC.
This will continue probably forever because nothing they're doing is illegal and it makes them a lot of money, so you either need to fight your monkey brain and be okay with not getting a limited event Pokemon, or accept that Gamefreak has you by the balls.
