>>12617831If you look at that map you'll see that the coastal town by the river mouth on the west coast doesn't match anything. However look at the map of North Wales and you'll see this is the exact position of Portmerrion. Also the channel islands are in the wrong place on your map so that proves that it is not based on northern france.
To the best of my knowlage there is also not a huge moutain range stretching over the entire middle of france. Hang on this is the internet we can google it to check! According to my research on Google there isn't a huge mountain range dividing france in two, I present proof of this in the attached jpg.
