It's actually a term from Magic the Gathering's dev team for shorthand talking about different styles of players.

Think showderp), Spike (sweatiest compfag imaginable), Vorthos (ONLY cares about lore. 'Proud of its power lucario'), and Melvin (the kind of nerd that memorizes stats because he thinks they're cool).
