Not even close to my favorite Pokémon, but conceptually, he's one of the few Pokémon that can actually bring something to Smash through its moves & abilities, and be translated into a one of a kind fighter, rather than the usual boring shtick most Pokémon in Smash go through.
Would have considered Deoxys, too.

Here's the problem with Aegislash.

His stance change ability is a neat idea. A pokemon that is sometimes defensive, sometimes offensive. shield has terrible attack great defence, blade is vice versa. But there's no RISK or difficulty using them.

The first problem is that Aegislash switches to Blade forme using any attack, no matter what it is or how weak it is. In fact, the only way to attack in shield forme is with sleep talk calling an attacking move. This means that rather than "switching" between strong but frail and weak but bulky Aegislash for all practical purposes always has 150 attack.

Aegislash is literally the perfect pokemon design this gen. It's cry is perfectly fitting, all the evo designs are superb and it's a good pokemon. Show me something new that fits these requirements that's better than my nigga aegi.

Our match was probably pretty damn fun to watch, I would imagine. The slight incentive to win made me (and the guy before me, who only just BARELY lost due to missed hits) fight super hard.
