The games, the show, whatever, they all focus on the human characters and their struggles, because that's what the audience really wants to see., pokemon are little more than animals in canon.
There's nothing *wrong* with exclusively focusing on people, and you shouldn't think otherwise unless you're a furfag writing PMD shit, in which case have at it I guess, but don't conflate the importance of pokemon in a spinoff where all of humanity is gone (the containment series for the dogfuckers, essentially) to the mainline universe, where they're glorified magic dogs.
