So, why isn't Xerneas Fairy/Ground?
No, seriously. I'm not as autistic as those people who think giving types SE to each other is the only way to make to pokémon antagonize each other (Game Freak have never went that route anyway, just look at RSE), but it still irks me. The debut trailer in January gave a small hint that Xerneas was forest-related, but its announced move made it too obvious. Xerneas is a Dark/Flying pokémon with a move called Death Wing, which is related to both types. How come a legendary has a move called Geofuckingmancy and has nothing to do with Ground? One is the Life and the other Destruction; one is a regal fairy and the other is an edgy vulture. One soars the skies while the other sits on its ass in a forest. It would only make sense (to me, at least) that Xerneas was Ground the same way Yveltal is Flying.
The only real reason I can think for not doing that is related to tourneyfaggotry. Ground/Fairy would give it too many weaknessess to commonly-used moves in Uber battles, which would go against their plans for Xerneas (maybe they want an Uber fairy to be overpowered?); besides, Xerneas would then cockblock Zekrom 100%, and they probably don't want any Uber pokémon to be ostracized that badly.
Alternatively, why isn't Groudon Ground/Fire? It would fit it thematically and do wonders competitively, and he's eaten alive by Kyogre already.
And don't worry, I'm not mad at this, I'm just legitimately curious
