I was worried people would be thrown off by the bad art and not take me seriously as a result.
You are right about the Raichu ear-wing being lazy. If I were to redraw it now I would give it wings similar to the second one. I literally started the design wondering if I could turn the Raichu ear into a wing - so I just cut out the ear and drew the bug around it.
If you are wondering why it has a Raichu ear-wing it is because the first form looks like a Pikachu. It's based off of these fuzzy yellow caterpillars I used to find all the time as a kid growing up.
And so I wanted to include something of Raichu in the evolution.
Someone was kind enough to improve my design I had for the prevo and drew this for me.
I don't want to post the original because it is so simple and ugly.
