Glad I replayed this game. I forgot a lot about it, and I'm pretty sure that goes for the later 3DS games. I don't know when I'm going to tackle XY, ORAS, and USUM (or if I should go SM instead), but I will get to them.
As far as pokemon games go, BW2 was pretty cool. I don't have a number or a tierlist in mind, but I want to say its up there. It does what good sequels tend to do, not necessarily should, and makes the previous entry feel almost obsolete. Without the context of the last entry though, some things can be lost like N's real significance to the plot and Ghetsis's descent into his madness. I'd say BW has the tighter plot over BW2. Everything else though the sequel reigns supreme over.
At the risk of inciting angry rants though, I want to say I had more fun with it than Emerald, FireRed, Black1, and HeartGold, but less fun than Crystal, Blue, and Platinum. This game has a good start and remains consistent, but the heavy stakes in the second half made it feel less like my own journey than other games. The single lane railroading was eased off a bit in this game and I appreciate it, but its still undeniably there. You are spoiled for choices when it comes to pokemon though, something that I REALLY liked after BW heavy constraints. It's easy like most pokemon games, even more so with how generous they are about items, but it isn't exactly free wins if you're just plain bad (as I've found out, twice). I think playing BW2 first and not BW1 as a child contributed to those extra fond memories as I didn't really get the whole "You can only use gen 5 pokemon!!!!" thing. I don't think I would've cared that much knowing there was a whole previous game back then.
That's pretty much my thoughts on BW2. The next one is XY, and I predict a lot of shitposting and shit posts if I make a playthrough thread on that game. Spoiler alert: I'm going to pick Chespin, because fuck you I like Chesnaught. Thats all for today.
