I was a kindergartener, obviously didn't play the games but loved watching the tv show and had lots of pokemon toys including the burger king toys and the 90's talking pikachu. felt like the best kids show on TV ever.
>gen 2
had friends who played GSC, I enjoyed them showing me their pokemon and talking to me about their adventures with their pokemon. I had a baby pichu plush I got for my birthday.
>gen 3
The first gen where I actually got a GBA and played my first pokemon game. I liked May more than Misty and I enjoyed contests. I thought skitty and plusle & minun were adorable.
>gen 4
this is when I started developing a love/hate relationship with pokemon. when my friend showed me the gen 4 starters, I thought they were fakemons. I hated that there were so many legendaries and how most of them were made to be god-like. the tv show sucked after the voice acting change. I hated Dawn and I was shocked by how stupid Ash had become. DPPt was kind of bad, but HGSS saved gen 4.
>gen 5
very hated gen, I didn't like most of the pokemon and still force myself to like any of them today. Iris and Cilan are the worst travelling companions to date. very few things I would consider out of gen 5 to be any good. I honestly thought gen 5 would be the death of pokemon.
>gen 6
imo, saved pokemon from nosediving after gen 5. Sylveon became an immediate favorite. Playing in 3D without setting up a shitty Wi-Fi hotspot was great. ORAS remakes were alright, though I'm still disappointed about the removal of gambling AND the frontier. The show got kind of better. Most new pokemon don't really look like "pokemon" to me, but at least megas were great.

SM had amazing characters and an amazing story that USUM fucked up. The show shat itself again with the art change. I enjoyed Let's Go but not as much as I enjoyed FRLG years before.
>gen 8
Honestly has more bad than good. I like Marnie and Morpeko. Will probably be the new worst gen ever. Actually considering skipping.
