The people here getting hyped that it will “flop” are setting themselves up for disappointment. What it needs to do is go under projections, but realistically it won’t due to these factors:
1. Switch Lite increases install base and accessibility to different areas of the market
2. Most issues only concern hardcore fans like us, casuals and kids only care about the main story
3. Lack of competition on switch in holidays. This is Nintendo’s big game that a lot of shareholders have likely been begging to drop ASAP.
4. It is a Pokemon game, they are system sellers, even LGPE, an incredibly gutted almost mobile quality game, sold 11 million on a pre-Switch lite install base
5. Consumers have information gaps and TPC’s marketing strategy may be banking on this
6. Even if consumers do bother to look up the complaints, nearly all publicity the game has got is positive and if it even acknowledges the complaints, it does so in a condescending manner.
7. Pokemon fans are unironically too emotionally invested in the series. You see this though the number of people buying used (used people will likely not have patience and cave)
I’ve been through this song and dance too much, I don’t trust the fan base.
