I think it might have something to do with them being the games I played the most as a kid. I never had a link cable so DP were the first games that I actually played with friends outside of just talking about them, and man did this ever compel me to play the FUCK out of them. I spent so much time battling my friends, trading mons on the GTS, running around in the underground, etc etc. It was probably the peak of my childhood, and it was definitely the peak of my experience with Pokémon. I stopped playing after HGSS but damn did I ever go out on a high note. So yea, all this is to say that the DPP soundtrack is burned into my memory more than any other soundtrack, especially the late night themes like the Pokémon Center theme, which still consistently brings me to tears if I allow myself to indulge in my nostalgia enough. I don’t even hate my life rn, I’ve got it quite good all things considered, but man, so I ever wish I could go back.
