so i'm replaying the pokemon games i missed (because sun got me back into pokemon after not really finishing gen 3). i'm trying to give myself a challenge, plus get some use out of some pokemon that are harder to obtain or that come in too late to really be useful in the main game. for example, i was planning on replacing my starter in pokemon emerald with beldum (not normally available until postgame) and making sure my rival gets the fire starter to preserve that particular type advantage. i like this as my emerald playthrough quirk, but i'm open to suggestions. i also have only a cursory knowledge of gens four through six so i don't really know of similar choices or any other challenges to make the games more interesting (not nuzlocke, i only nuzlocke games i've already finished.)
so if anyone has any ideas for fun replays/alternate starters for platinum, hgss, black (and black 2), or X, i'd be very grateful.
