One can be a Pokephile and not be a furry. The window for this is EXTREMELY small, as it's relegated to Pokemon that don't have any traits belonging to an animal, such as Gardevoir, Tsareena, Roserade, etc. You could argue for objectmon too, but that's opening a whole new can of worms that we don't want to get into.
Furries don't even classify Gardevoir as furry. It looks as furry as other fantasy races such as fairies or elves.
Regular Joes classify it as furry simply because it is abnormal and they're using "furry" as a blanket term for any kind of Pokephilia, which is why things like
