>>54563349The IVs of the pokemon you initially choose, and your opponent use, are based on the current win streak you have. The bigger your streak, the higher the IVs. However it's bugged so that the opponent's pokemon (with the exception of the final battle/Frontier Brain) instead use your streak in the battle tower. So by swapping pokemon, you're actively choosing pokemon with lower IVs (the pokemon you choose at the start will always have higher IVs). And while sure the earlier opponents will have low IVs, the final trainers and the frontier brain for the round will have the correct (higher) IVs on their pokemon because they use a different lookup table.
So if you want that gold symbol the strategy is really to just hope and pray you get a good loadout to begin with.
