1) Opportunity cost between quality of the ball and how much I can afford to lose the catch.
2) I basically favorite everything I don't want to accidentally transfer. I'll usually just name Pokémon as one would expect unless I plan on using it in GBL eventually (e.g., Rank 16 GL), I plan on trading it and I want to maximize distance (e.g., XL Home, XL Kansas, etc.) or I need to remember to evolve it for an exclusive more or remove Frustration. Level benchmarks and other stuff is what I use tags for. (I use tags for trade distance on my alt. since I only use it for gym stacking, raid help and trading).
3) Anything I can solo I will, but I usually bring the alt. if I plan on raiding something that I'll need to duo. I do have some people nearby that occasionally do 5-star raids though. Hardest non-WB solo was probably Mega Pinsir (Guzzlord for 5-star) and hardest WB solo was either Mega Medicham (y'know, pre-Mega Fug) or Kartana. Probably could've solo'd Nihilego or Heatran if I was willing to waste the passes trying, but I definitely duo'd them with tons of time remaining.
4) If I want to use a Pokémon in GBL or raids soon.
5) Pretty frequently if I'm actually trying. I can get excellent throws pretty consistently with one hand nowadays.
6) Either pseudos with the slight chance for farming candy from dumping berries (I'd also use Larvesta if I had one) or Shedinja (no other use for my boy).
7) I assume everyone knows about quick-catching and "guaranteed" excellent throws at this point. Fast move alignment is also good to know, but that other anon already mentioned it... Iirc, if you encounter a shiny during the last couple minutes of a spotlight hour and it's a normal encounter spot outside spotlight hour, letting the hour roll over and letting the spawn change will give you the ability to guarantee a shiny for a different Pokémon at that spot (assuming the new mon isn't shinylocked).
